Jack's Story
Jack Joyner had his first experience in the air conditioning industry when he was just 14 years old. He began by sweeping floors and doing odd jobs at Sunset Air Conditioning Co.
When he was 16, he began working as a duct mechanic; at 20, he branched into the service department as a service mechanic. At the young age of 25, he was promoted to service manager. At 32, he became the vice president and operations manager. And at 41 years old, Jack became the president of the company and passed the Class A state exam and received his Class A license. From 1980 to 1990, Jack directed all operations at Sunset Air Conditioning; his tenure in total lasting over 35 years.
Then in 1990, Jack Joyner Heating & Air Conditioning was founded. For over 30 years, we have served Clearwater and the surrounding areas. Though we have experienced tremendous growth, we remain a family owned and locally owned and operated business. Three generations of Jack’s family are currently involved in the business and strive every day to maintain Mr. Joyner’s high standards of service.
Some of the notable achievements of Jack’s career include serving on the Pinellas County Gas Board for several years, along with sitting on the Pinellas County Mechanical Board and the Pinellas County Construction Licensing Board for many years as well. Jack has also sat on the Better Business Board as a director. In the mid-90s, Jack was selected as a member of the DPR board in Tallahassee, where he helped develop the new HVAC exams for the State of Florida HVAC license.
In total, Jack has been working in the HVAC industry for 64 years. Throughout his time working in the business, he has worked on projects for an array of different industries. Some of his notable projects include engineering and installing projects for GTE/Verizon, Pinellas County Schools, the University of South Florida in St. Petersburg, Osceola County Schools, and numerous churches in the Tampa Bay area.
